Mash Support

Help with the Mash iPhone app, from the people who build it.

Contact support

support@mash.com

Monitored Monday to Friday, Eastern time. We’re a small team, so we won’t always be instant — but a person reads every message, and you’ll usually hear back within a business day.

So we can help quickly, include the email address on your Mash account, what happened, and a screenshot if you have one. Security or data question? Say so, and it goes straight to the person who owns it.

Common questions

Why can’t I sign in?

You can sign in and sign up to Mash with your Apple, Google or Microsoft account, so there’s no Mash password to reset. If sign-in fails, check you’re using the account you joined with, then try again.

If it still fails, email us and tell us which of the three you used.

The app isn’t working. What should I try?

Make sure the app is up to date and you’re online, then sign out and back in. If it still fails, email us with what you were doing, what you saw, and your iPhone model and iOS version. A screenshot helps.

Bugs and feature requests go to the same address, and we read every one. Mash is in early access for iPhone users in the US and Canada, and the people using it shape what we build next.

How do you use my data?

Mash works because of what you put into it. Your notes, your recordings and the transcripts made from them are used to run Mash and to make it better.

We don’t sell your information. We never send recordings or transcripts to an advertising platform. We don’t identify anyone by their voice, and we don’t match a voice against past recordings.

The Privacy Policy has the full picture, including what we hold back.

How do I control how you use my data?

We need your data to give you a product that works — that’s the trade, and we try to be straight about it. You’re still in control.

  • Turn the microphone or speech-recognition permission off in your iPhone’s Settings, any time.
  • Stop a recording that’s in progress, any time.
  • Unsubscribe from our marketing email using the link in any message.
  • On mash.com, use the cookie link in the footer to turn off analytics and advertising.

You can withdraw at any time, and you don’t have to give a reason. Withdrawing doesn’t undo what we already did while your consent was in place.

Do I need permission before I record someone?

Yes — and it’s your call to make, not ours. When you record, you’re the one making the recording. Mash is the tool you’re using to do it.

Before you record a call, a meeting or a conversation, get the consent and give the notices the law requires where you and the other people are. In some places that means everyone’s consent, not just yours. Your meeting platform may ask for its own notice too.

That consent covers what happens to the recording afterwards, including the use described above.

If you find out a recording was made without a consent it needed, email support@mash.com and we’ll delete it.

Can I delete a note or a recording?

Email privacy@mash.com and tell us what you’d like removed, and we’ll take care of it.

If you’d like a copy of your data, ask at the same address.

How do I close my account?

You can close your account in the app. Deleting the app on its own doesn’t do it.

If you’d like a copy of your data first, ask us before you close it.

Can’t get into the app? Email privacy@mash.com from the address on your account, with the subject “Close my account”. We’ll confirm it’s you and reply when it’s done.

The Privacy Policy sets out what happens to your content, and what we have to keep.

Who can use Mash?

Mash is for people 18 and over, in the United States and in Canada outside Quebec. We don’t offer it in Quebec, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland.
